1. How Much You Pay
A) Students with Income Earned Abroad (No Italian ISEE)
If you file income tax in a foreign country and cannot submit an Italian ISEE, a fixed contribution applies based on your country's GDP. Countries are grouped into Bands A, B, and C according to GDP adjusted to Purchasing Power Parity (Board resolution of 30th May 2023). Please see PPP Classification below.
It is not possible to submit an 'ISEE parificato' for income not declared in Italy.
Non-EU students must also demonstrate sufficient financial means to obtain a student visa and residence permit (INPS Circular No. 8, 17th January 2017).

B) Students with Income Earned in Italy (Italian ISEE)
Standard Total Amount
Total annual tuition: €2,821
This amount is divided into three instalments:
First instalment (30%): €846;
Second instalment (35%): €987;
Third instalment (35%): €988.
Regional tax for the right to education: €140 (separate fee imposed by the Lazio Region)
Stamp duty: €16 (administrative tax paid with the first instalment)
Tuition Based on ISEE (Income-Based Reduction)
Sapienza applies a progressive contribution system. If you qualify for partial reductions, the amount you pay is calculated according to your ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) for the Right to University Education, in accordance with the Board of Directors' resolution of 11th June 2013.
Students must:
Submit their ISEE;
Ensure the ISEE value is correctly recorded in Infostud.
If the ISEE is not correctly acquired by the deadline, the maximum tuition amount will be applied.
2. When You Pay
Tuition is payable in three instalments.
First Instalment
Standard deadline (for students enrolling in years after the first): 6th November 2025.
Official extension: 13th November 2025.
Second Instalment
Standard deadline: 18th December 2025.
Official extension: 22nd December 2025.
By the same date (22nd December 2025), students with income earned in Italy must verify that their ISEE value is correctly recorded in Infostud. Late ISEE submission is possible with a progressive fine, which will be in addition to any late payment penalties.
Third Instalment
Deadline: 26th March 2026.
Please note that students who fail to pay outstanding instalments by 30th June 2026 must wait for the new academic year to regularise their position.
Late Payment Penalties
A late payment incurs:
- €65 fine for delays;
- €130 fine if the delay exceeds 60 consecutive days.
3. How to Pay
Payments are generated via the Infostud system and completed online through PagoPA, the mandatory payment platform for Italian public administrations.
