Irene Ranzato, PhD in Translation Studies (Imperial College London), is an Associate Professor in English Language and Translation (Lingua e Traduzione Inglese, L-LIN/12) at the Faculty of Lettere e Filosofia of the Sapienza University of Rome.
Her research interests are focused on Translation Studies, Audiovisual Translation and Intersemiotic Translation. In the field of the didactics of the language, she has concentrated on dialectal and social variations of English and on their translation; on the translation strategies for culture specific elements; on censorship, manipulation and ideology in translation. In the field of Intersemiotic Translation, she is interested in adaptation theories and has focused on the adaptations for cinema and television of books and plays in the English language.
